Journey To The End Of The Night – Chicagø

GAME DETAILS

Journey To The End Of The Night is a chase game played across an entire city. It is not unlike a foot race mixed with a scavenger hunt and a game of tag. The course will be approximately 7.5 miles, as the crow flies, and may take 3 to 5 hours to complete. The finish line will not be far from a CTA station.

Players will congregate at Wicker Park [Damen at LeMoyne], where a mediator will take down their name, and the name of their team (optional).

Each player will receive:

  • a blue ribbon, to wear while being chased
  • a red ribbon, to wear if caught
  • a manifest sheet, to be signed at each checkpoint
  • a map of the designated checkpoints
  • words of encouragement

Agents will be in disguise at the five checkpoints around the city, waiting to sign players’ manifests as they arrive. At 7PM, a mediator will give a verbal description of the Agents at the first checkpoint, and so the game begins.

Stationed around the city will be Chasers, all wearing red ribbons, who's goal it will be to catch players. If a Chaser successfully tags a player, they must hand over their blue ribbon and tie on their red ribbon. At this point, the player will become a Chaser, and endeavor to catch other players.

Awards, refreshments, and stories will be presented at the final checkpoint.

PLAYER INSTRUCTIONS

Your goal is to reach the final checkpoint first with a complete manifest and without being caught by Chasers. You may walk, run, or take the train.

At each checkpoint you must find an Agent to sign your manifest. These Agents will instruct you on how to identify the Agent at the next checkpoint.

If you are caught (tagged), remove your Blue ribbon and give it to the Chaser who got you. Put on your Red ribbon. Your goal now is to catch other players.
